Hitting May is going to be hectic for me. I’m going to share with you in this blog the nerves, timings, and adjustments we have made and so on.
It’s all hands-on deck for the grand opening of our 3rd salon in Upton on Friday 2nd June at 2pm and I can’t wait to show you all.
Firstly, I want to thank you for your continued support and loyalty. From my existing clients, past clients, current and past staff. Without you all, Divine wouldn’t be here today.
I absolutely love meeting clients and hearing their life stories and making them all feel good when they leave the salon. It has been a pleasure to be in business for more than 10 years meeting all these wonderful people. So, thank you so much.
So, you may have heard I am opening my third salon in Upton, Northampton. This has been in the making for years.
Let’s take it back to the beginning, my husband and I saw this property getting developed and we said “wouldn’t it be nice to have a salon there” great location and lovely new build with stunning surroundings. This was 10 years ago!
Fast forward, a row of shops only got built didn’t it! Shall we? We decided to take the plunge and go for it. Excitement roared in us with this challenge. Then the pandemic hit us leaving us in a situation whether we should pull out or continue. We were determined to see this through as it was our mission to do so. Nervous and worried with this decision seeing as we are now coming out of the pandemic. I was feeling super anxious whether Divine was even going to make it pass the next year. With the whole world facing financial difficulties and scared to return to the “normal” life. Was there going to be clients still walking through the door?
Reopening back in 2020 all I could do was hope for the best and pray. Fortunately, Divine adjusted with the new ways of working with the 2 meter social distancing and extended our opening time to meet clients’ needs, ensuring we were safe and following guidance.
We slowly gained our clients trust and managed to organise the team to make sure they were able to continue to operate without reducing staff.
Now it’s full steam ahead in 2023 and we can finally start planning and decorating. Our plans got delayed because as businesses start to reopen, they had a huge back log of work. But it gave us more time to spend on staff and work with them and bring in new services and products.
Over to my husband Russell the man behind the scenes. He is the one that organises all the planning, the builders, figures out the best way to achieve what we need to make this work. His spent most of his time researching regulations and safety of the new salon. He will ask me all the little gritty details that does my head in! But in the end his done it and brought our vision to life! I am super proud of him for making this happen. We were like a tag team. When the kids are at school we are working, then football, tennis swimming dinner plus still working full time at the salon has been manic. We literally hardly see each other.
After having opened two salons’ already we can take on board our new vision and put it towards Upton. This has been a long time coming and a tough challenge as it’s been from scratch. The building was classed as a “unit” no walls, no water, no electricity, no floors. When I tell you it has been from scratch, nothing was there! A project that we have never done before and anticipated the work involved, so we have both learnt so much during this journey. We both feel confident that if we were to do this again in the future, we have really good knowledge. Maybe I’ll start consulting in the future?

Finally, if you see Russell around give him a pat on the back! I never show much appreciation with him (us women tend to do that right? Not only me lol) but I really do. His been my rock and the greatest business partner.
